Robert on The Cover of USA Weekend

6a00e39820c2a888330120a66bf18f970c-200wiYou can’t read a book, watch a movie, hunt for a Halloween costume or tune into TV these days without running into vampires, and our cover story this weekend takes a look at why bloodsuckers — with franchises such as Twilight, True Blood and The Vampire Diaries — are so hot in pop culture right now. In addition to interviewing True Blood book author Charlaine Harris and Dacre Stoker, Dracula author Bram Stoker’s great-grandnephew, our Brian Truitt had the chance to talk with cover boy Robert Pattinson, the popular star of Twilight and the upcoming sequel New Moon (in theaters Nov. 20). Pattinson, who plays the vampire Edward Cullen, was up in Vancouver filming Eclipse, the third adaptation from Stephenie Meyer’s book series coming out next year. “Almost every scene is a fight scene at the moment — for the last couple of weeks anyway,” he reports. “We’ve been doing splits for the past week and a half.” Read below for some of Pattinson’s thoughts on Eclipse and making the Twilight movies, and check out this new clip from New Moon featuring his co-stars, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner. A recent addition to “Sexiest” lists everywhere, Robert Pattinson and his messy mane have won hearts all over the world with his turn as veggie vampire Edward Cullen in the Twilight Saga. Those over 25 may roll their eyes, but the combination of plum roles in hit novels (see also: Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire), a posh accent, musical ability and that enormous haystack on his head means half the teenage world adores him.
Most alluring as… Gotta be Edward Cullen, with all that restrained passion and the penchant for melting glances.
Interests include… He’s also a talented pianist and guitarist, and contributed tracks to the Twilight soundtrack.

Robert Interviewed By One Magazine

one60-001Rivals in New Moon, Edward Cullen and Jacob Black are, in reality friends. Together, they reflect on the filming of the saga and on their new life as stars tracked by fans and paparazzi.

Both of you have very devoted fans. But have they become too intrusive?

Taylor Lautner: I believe that Robert and I have very different experiences concerning our relationship with the fans. As far as I’m concerned, I still credit them with Twilight. Without their support, the producers would have without a doubt replaced me for the role of Jacob after the first film.

Robert Pattinson: I remember that before the release of the first film, the fans hated me. On the internet I only read bad critiques of myself and it was really difficult to feel all this hate. Back then director Catherine Hardwicke had forbidden me from reading what people said about me on the web. I told her that it was my mother who sent me the links to the forums where they criticized me. Then she advised me to boycott all the emails that my mother sent me! [laughs] All that to say that the frenzy that I spark today doesn’t make me forget the horrors that I read about myself online.

We’ve heard the stories that certain fans act poorly on the filming of New Moon…

Robert: Usually, the majority of them are happy just to watch us film or just get an autograph. But some of them are crazy and recently it’s Taylor who gets them excited…

Taylor: oh yeah, it’s really embarrassing. A forty year old woman insisted on pulling down her pants so that I could sign her! On top of that, my name was printed on her underwear, so that was really strange! Unfortunately, you can’t expect that from all the Twilight fans…

‘New Moon’ VMA Trailer Information

MTV brings us some information about the new trailer for New Moon that is going to be shown at this year’s Video Music Awards (spoiler alert!).

Fans asked and Summit Entertainment has delivered. The second full-length “New Moon” trailer contains everything the first teaser trailer and the “Meet Jacob Black” trailer have not: more Volturi, more werewolves and more visions of Edward. The newest trailer is being shown before screenings of “Sorority Row” (out today), but an extended version will also be exclusively shown at the VMAs on Sunday, presented by Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner.
