Help Rebuild Victoria

Hello everyone,

As I type this message, over 30 large bushfires are currently burning down the towns in the state of Victoria in Australia, which is also my home state. Over 170 people have died, many of which cannot even be identified due to impact of the fires. Along with the dead (which the toll is to rise), many more are missing and their families are completely worried sick. Furthermore, hundreds if not thousands of people have lost their homes, as the fire crept upon during the night as well.

The arsonist(s) who began these horrendous fires caused more than they thought they did; Not only did they burn down peoples’ homes but they destroyed their posessions, their belongings, the gardens they spent so hard on, the crops they slogged to keep healthy, their pets they adore, their family they love, their irreplacable friends and their neighbours and aquantainces. Also, that park they took their kids to – gone. That gym they had memories from – gone. . I just want to send my deepest sypathies to the victims of the terror and my empathy, too. I am donating as much as I can tomorrow and will pray to every religion. It’s so sad. Such an inescusable, sadistic, inhumane, inmoral crime. So sorry =(

I live in Canberra in Australia but have many family members that the fires got extremely close to. It is so overwhelming to see the global response to this tragedy. Great to see that you were able to post some details to let the world know about Vic. I too live in the Northern suburbs and can see the heartache. Friends of mine have lost their families and I lived in Wangaratta a few years ago (north victoria) during the bushfires and it is scary stuff and very emotional. If everyone chips in we can help get these people back on their feet and living somewhat normal lives. Clothes, food, money anything would be great! Wishing everyone all the best xoxox

I live in Adelaide and i must say as much as i feel sick for some of the people that live in this country and some ot the stuff they do, we are also one of the most generous countries. in one day on 2 radio stations alone we mamaged $2 million. that is unbelievable. I am so proud to be an Australian right now, to see us comming together as a family and helping out those who have lost everything.

I live in Sydney, Australia and have been watching the reports on tv. My heart goes out to all of the people who have lost their homes and those who have lost friends and loved ones in the Victorian bush fires. Thank god the Victorian police have started to pursue the criminals who have caused this atroscity. Hopefully the police and fire brigade will continue to do the outstanding job they are doing. Keep up the great work!!

Hi, my husband is one of the fire fighters who has been sent from NSW to Victoria to back up the Victorian fire fighters. He doesn’t quite know where they will be sent, but he does know there is a huge job ahead of them. He’s spoken to people there who have lost loved ones and everything they had in this entire world. My prayers and heart go out to them. Thank God Himself that the Australian people are so generous and caring, always giving to those who are in need!

I live in New Zealand and have been watchin the reports about the bushfires. Australia is like our big brother, my heart goes out to all those effected and to all those who have lost loved ones. The death toll currently stands at 208 people dead. It is truley saddening. I have donated money myself and encourage others to do so.

Omgsh, yes, I know! The bushfires are full-on huge in Vic, man!
Our school in Sydney (I’m born in Melbourne, though) was actually donating for all of the bushfires and stuff.
