New details on ‘New Moon’

Summit Entertainment has tentatively slated Nov. 20, 2009, as the release date for New Moon, the Twilight sequel, which means any director who signs on to replace Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke has to be in Vancouver by Dec. 15 to begin 12 weeks of preproduction before a mid-March start date.

Indeed, at press time the second movie appeared to have ­little more than a rough first-draft working script. As Summit’s production president Erik Feig told EW during Twilight’s ­record-busting first weekend, “There is that first…script. All the finesse that turns a screenplay into a movie hasn’t ­happened yet.” Two weeks later, Summit is saying it’s happy with screenwriter ­Melissa Rosenberg’s progress. Full Story.

If they recast Taylor (Jacob) I will be upset. I thought he did a great job and he really fit what I thought Jacob would look/be like in my head. But some of my friends disagree. I mean couldn’t they just make him work out as much as possible to try and bulk up a little more. I think casting a different actor would work for once he changes but what about the part of the movie where he is just Jacob. And I swear to god if they put Edwards character in the story where he shouldn’t be just to satisfy teenage girls wants to see Robert Pattinson I will be mad. He is very attractive but go look at a picture and leave the story alone.

I hope that they don’t recast jacob, I thought that taylor did a great job, he needs to probably gain some more muscle…. but anyone can do that, he has plenty of time. I’m positive he can do it =)

I am totally on “Team Edward” but I truly think that Taylor Lautner deserves to play Jacob Black. He is perfect for the world, he is just not as huge as Jacob is. But you are talking about someone who looks like a fictional character. There isn’t a soul in the world that can fit the description of what Stephenie Meyer describes werewolves like. Taylor is perfect for the role.

They can not recast taylor launter he plays jacob black so well. Even though i am on Team Edward\Team Robert Pattinson i agree that in new moon he should not appear in the middle of the movie because it just recks the book.

I am a little confused. The article says that pre-production will begin in Vancouver. If I remember correctly, the first film was made in Portland, OR. Why are they changing locations? I know that both are in close proximity, I am just curious as to know why the change is taking place.

Also, I read about the filming in Rome as well. But, if I am correct, Volterra is closer to Florence than Rome. Again, I doubt if it matters. They could actually make a fake Volterra in some backwoods part of Virginia and I wouldn’t notice the difference.

I do agree with you all that Taylor should not be replaced. I have read all the books more than once (I know-I know) and I understand that he grows significantly throughout the story. However, if he didn’t become HUGE in the movie, does it really matter? The real story doesn’t revolve around his size, but rather his relationship with Bella.

I am a little concerned about the announced budget ($50 million) and tentative release date. The amount isn’t really much more than the first, considering it is rumored that Rob and Kristen are each getting $10 million more than the first. The only logical explanation I can think of is this: Rob and Kristen are signed on to do three movies total. In order for Summit to get them to even think about making the fourth (which Summit will want to do-this franchise is a gold mine), they will have to throw a TON of money at the actors. They’re going to keep production costs low so they can possibly bankroll the fourth. It makes sense, though I am not sure Rob or Kristen would do it and you can’t have the movie without them.

I really don’t know how they can “do” New moon without Taylor???? The fanbase will is just too strong for him!!?? That would be like replacing Edward?!!! As a die hard Twilight fan..I can’t imagine anyone else playing Jacob now but, Taylor??!!!! And by the way..I’m on Team Edward!!! I do hope that Rob has more than 2 scenes as he’s said in prior interviews.!!
